The Reality of our Work
Apart from neutering, the most important part of our work is picking up and treating sick and injured cats. No cat is ever put to sleep unless it has no quality of life. That is why we desperately need funds. An exciting new development is a third generation broad spectrum antibiotic which lasts for fourteen days, so for instance when we pick up a Tom cat with 'tom cats ears' (wounds from fighting) we can neuter him and whilst he is unconscious we can clean out the wounds and treat them, give him the new antibiotic and release him the next day. It is expensive - 20 euros a shot - but it will make such a difference to our work.

Eye Problems
Alot of cats lose eyes due to cat flu and viruses, if we catch them in time we can often save the eye with frequent applications of antibiotic cream. This cat, Barbara, who lives with us lost her eye because she was kicked and is now a very frightened cat. |

Injuries
This photo shows Sooty after he had been hit by a car, he had a broken leg, cheek bone and jaw plus an eye injury but he recovered and came to live with us. He became the star of our sunday mornings but sadly died of kidney failure a year later. Sooty is just one example of the dozens of cats we pick up every year and take for treament. |
